The synagogue was built by the Liège architect Joseph Rémont and inaugurated in 1899. The building, which is listed as a heritage building, illustrates the eclecticism of the 19th century in its borrowing of Islamic, Roman and Lombard-influenced Romanesque styles. The museum presents various religious objects and the history of the Jewish community in Liege.
