Since time immemorial, signs have been used in various ways to distinguish the homes of craftsmen, merchants, bourgeois, etc. Today, Liège still has around a hundred carved stone signs, most of which date from the 17th and 18th centuries, some of which are still in their original location, others which have been moved and saved. A stroll through the streets of the city centre is a must to discover this stone heritage.
