The Cathedral and its Treasure House (GR014)

Presentation

At Saint Paul's Cathedral and its Treasure House, you will discover the history of the Principality of which Liège was the capital for almost eight centuries. The former Saint Paul's Collegiate Church, which dates from the 10th century, was elevated to cathedral status in 1802. It inherited some of the furniture and treasure of the Cathedral of Our Lady and Saint Lambert, torn down during the Revolution. The Treasure House, located in the wings of the 15th- and 16th-century cloister, is home to many masterpieces which bear witness to this prestigious past: gold- and silverworks (Charles the Rash's reliquary, Saint Lambert's bust-reliquary...), ivory, manuscripts, sculptures, paintings and a remarkable collection of old cloths.
Note: the cathedral is open from 8 am to 5 pm and may be subject to access restrictions depending on religious services. The Treasure House is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 2 to 5 pm, or by appointment for groups (closed on 01/01, 01/05, 24-25/12 and 31/12).
